The moment we cry in a film is not when things are sad but when they turn out to be more beautiful than we expected them to be. -Alain de Botton

"My Autopsy" is a film about the progression of a woman's strength as she journeys to escape the invisible chains of a past abusive relationship. The film examines a very troubling aspect of relationships in today’s society. Domestic violence is a terrible, ugly situation – and sometimes getting out isn’t so clean and pretty either. Our goal is to highlight the issue, and let the audience decide if Rachel, our protagonist, has gone about putting an end to the insanity in the right or the wrong way. It’s not glamorous. It’s not pretty. Some people may say that the means to which she came to an end wasn’t right, or moral. It’s not black and white. The path is not the same for everyone. Rachel’s just happens to be a bit rockier than what most would consider acceptable. We intend to show how badly a situation can still hold on to a person – even when it’s in the past. The scars are real. |
